Puppies In The Studio! - Australian Support Dogs (ASDOG)

Image
How much fun is my job! Today I got to photograph some very special puppies. These puppies are in training to provide support to people with physical disabilities.  Not to be confused with the guide dogs, Support Dogs are trained to get the mail, fetch your car keys, grab a tin of food from the pantry, open the fridge or oven door even grab the phone for their person. Besides which, they are really cute and wonderful companions. ASDOG is a non profit organisation so they do rely on the support of our community which is why I was happy to help. Australian Support Dogs - Helping those in need!

Image
Jade, loyal and very smart support dog! These incredible dogs are selected, trained and then placed to work in support of people with physical disabilities. I happily volunteered to capture images of one of the dogs, Jade, demonstrating a few of the many tasks she performs daily.  You can find out more on the ASDOG website, click here .

Puppy Power - ASDOG - Support Dog Talk At Sydney University

Image
I recently had the pleasure of helping a friend and dog trainer extraordinaire, Ann, at her ASDOG informative talk at Sydney University.  Ann, as well as other dedicated trainers, raise carefully selected Labrador or Golden Retriever puppies toward being support dogs for those people with disabilities who would like to maintain a bit more independence.  I marveled as these dogs demonstrated their skills at turning on light switches, picking up dropped mobile phones and keys, carrying baskets and much more. There is a long list of clever abilities on the ASDOG website. I wish my kids were as helpful at putting things away! Picking up a dropped notepad.. Pulling up her owners blanket. As well as being clever and helpful, they are pretty darn cute.
