Smartphone Photography Tips with Wide Angle Lens

Image
Interloop Sculpture Installation - Taken with the Samsung S7 without additional lens Following on from my previous post on the Olixar Macro lens , another fun part of the Smartphone Lens Kit is a .36x Super Wide Angle Lens.  There is still nothing like setting up my Canon 5Ds with 16-35mm lens onto a tripod for spectacular city and landscape images but when I'm travelling around with just my phone, this lens kit is a perfect alternative. To test it out, I headed to downtown Sydney, firstly to the scultpure,  Interloop by Chris Fox  where it hangs in Wynyard Station. Upside - Get everything into your frame The above pic was taken straight up with the Samsung S7. Its nice and sharp and bright but we've lost the edges of the sculpture. Below, I've added the super wide lens and I now have everything in the photo. Downside - Loss of quality, light and some distortion. I've lost a little light. The photo isn't as sharp and the edges are qui...

Walking Sydney - Chowder Bay to Middle Head

Image
Not just a walk with panoramic views of the harbour, this is also a fabulous step back into Sydney history.  View toward North Head The fortifications began in the 19th Century and were modified over the years and include a series of tunnels that connect the entire area. Fascinating but scary to think that we needed such protection. One of the many tunnels that connect this entire fortress The guns have been removed but you get the idea. Getting There  We parked the car in a free 2 hour spot at Georges Head , which is just above Chowder Bay On Middle Head Road, Mosman. Then followed the signs to Middle Head. Some parts aren't as well signed so you'll have to follow the map, one wrong turn and you could end up at the Nudist Beach! You will walk through the abandoned military quarters and come to this little group of cottages on Old Fo...

Sydney Harbour from Quay Restaurant

Image
Quay Restaurant is situated at the Ocean Liner terminal in Sydney Harbour. After dinner we went for a stroll upstairs and out onto the deck. The view is outstanding. I can understand why so many functions are held here. Old Sydney Town has some pretty buildings.

Sydney Harbour from Luna Park

Image
Whilst the kids had a ton of fun on the rides at Luna Park, I spent a short while taking some images of Sydney Harbour. It was kind of an icky day but nonetheless, a pretty aspect of the harbour.

Sydney Harbour Snap

What a perfect Spring day to meet with my primary school friend, Jo. The Harbour was gleaming. Right before our coffee on the boardwalk at Circular Quay, I had a little chance to try out my new filter.. This is the view from Pier 6 looking northbound.
