We had a blast downtown Portland. Spent the morning at various locations with a break for some lunch at Pizzacato on 23rd Street. We got some great shots. Next we will do the portrait session in the studio to make the package complete!

NSW 2013 State Open Water Swim Championships

Held at the Sydney International Regatta Centre , thunderstorms had been predicted but luckily missed us so we ended up having lovely weather after all. Actually, it got quite warm and had I had a break, I might have jumped in to cool off a bit! 11-12yrs waiting to start Ready, Set, Go..... Start of the Mens 13-15yrs 5km A little hectic at the start but it soon sorts itself out. The strong and experienced open water swimmers pull out ahead right from the beginning and mostly maintain this pace throughout. Some get clear of the pack and find their pace by themselves whilst others stay in a group. One happy swimmer spots her family! What really surprised me was how closely the top swimmers stayed together after such a long race. Location Headshots Give A Consistent Professional Look To Company Website

Business Headshots photographed on Location in Sydney CONSISTENT IMAGES COMMUNICATE PROFESSINALISM... As well as getting images of the entire available staff at once, what I love about location shoots is that the client gets a consistent look across all of their images. This in turn gives their website a uniformity that communicates professionalism. When the "ABOUT" page on a website hosts a number of images which are inconsistent, it makes that company look in incohesive, or even disjointed. TRY MAKING THE SHOOT AT THE SAME TIME AS THE BOARD MEETING... The gear and the photographer also make a difference. We had another photographer shoot in another State with my instructions and the images were completely different. So I guess the only real way to get true consistency is to use the same photographer as best as the budget allows. Such an  incredible organisation providing music to children that might not normally have access to it.  For me, it was personal. I couldn't imagine life without music. Music saved me. Cambodian kids bring tears of joy! - Our visit to a remote school in Thailand

Steps With Hope Desperately in need of funds to continue their support of this little school in Thailand, Founder of  Steps With Hope , Jen Spoor, hosted a Mother's Day High Tea. After her presentation, I said to Jen, "if you want to make a bigger impact, you need better photos".   So that was that and I committed to visiting the school on their next trip.   Meet The Kids If you're like us, you will want to meet the kids right away. There are about 70 children currently attending the school with three classes starting at Kindergarten age.  These children come from poor Khmer families, remnants of a recovering population that has endured one of the darkest times times in its history.  Around 3 million people slaughtered and many more terrorized by the Khmer Rouge has left a devastated people still clawing its way back to normality.  Families reside in makeshift huts just over the border in Cambodia. How To Setup a Remote Triggered Photo Booth

These are the most fun shoots! Even better than an actual booth because you get to use awesome equipment and hang out with fun people! To setup my Photo Booth, I used the following gear: Canon 1D X ProFoto B1 Octabox with grid 3 x Pocket Wizard Plus II's 1  x Flash Sync Cable 1 x Remote cable Lightstand Tripod 32GB Memory Card 1. LIGHTS - I setup my light or lights, depending on the scope of the backdrop and the look I am going for. I have previously used my Alien Bee Strobes and more recently, Profoto B1's. You could probably use Speedlites too. I've just never found them reliable or battery efficient besides, the quality of light from the Profoto or even the Bees, is infinitely better. Besides which, you would need two to get the job done nicely. 2. TRIPOD - I setup my camera onto a Tripod. A good sturdy tripod is useful, especially if there is going to be alcohol at the venue! 3. Rustic Australian Countryside - The small town of Rylstone

One of the Dam's looking toward Kandos  On the property, Lindoway looking back toward The Shed  It happened. A rare weekend when I wasn't shooting for a client! So I threw the camera in the car and headed three hours out of Sydney to  the Central Tablelands.  I visited a friend's property, Lindoway, in  Rylstone ,  a small town with a population of 615 people and at least 10 times that in sheep! View toward the town of Kandos There are 65 sheep on Lindoway and this is as close as I could get as they are quite skittish. The leader sheep lets out a massive Baa (he tried to sound scary but Baa still sounds cute to me) then they all take off.  Today is particularly warm 30 degrees celsius but it did cool considerably in the evening.  There don't seem to be any mosquitos but the flies certainly make up for it. Walking Sydney - Chowder Bay to Middle Head

Not just a walk with panoramic views of the harbour, this is also a fabulous step back into Sydney history.  View toward North Head The fortifications began in the 19th Century and were modified over the years and include a series of tunnels that connect the entire area. Fascinating but scary to think that we needed such protection. One of the many tunnels that connect this entire fortress The guns have been removed but you get the idea. There was no way anyone would get through Sydney Harbour. As the Japanese were to find out in 1942 during WWII . Getting There  We parked the car in a free 2 hour spot at Georges Head , which is just above Chowder Bay On Middle Head Road, Mosman. Then followed the signs to Middle Head. Some parts aren't as well signed so you'll have to follow the map, one wrong turn and you could end up at the Nudist Beach!
