Sydney Landscape - Super Moon Sunset

Image
I was super excited to wait on the rise of the Earth's Super Moon, this past Sunday. I watched the kids frolic in the warm autumn water and sand for some time and was beginning to worry that the headland was rather too far out and that we may have missed this once in a long while opportunity when all of a sudden it was there in all of it's full amazing glory!  These images are all straight out of the camera, no Photoshop, no editing except for the following one which is two exposures (one slow and one fast) combined to get the soft waves. My sensor is completely filthy due to several recent shoots at beach and park locations, so don't look too closely or you will see loads of blobs!

Anzac Day 2012 - Lest We Forget

Image
For my international friends, ANZAC stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps. When our troops landed on the beach in Gallipoli on this day in 1915,  an astonishing number of our soldiers lost their lives. The Allied death toll for this tragic campaign was over 44,000 and so it soon became our national day of remembrance. For all those who have sacrificed in the name of peace, we thank you!  Along with the marching soldiers come the many wonderful and colourful bands. Many of our schools perform in the ceremony including bands from both my boys schools, Marist College and Knox. My Son's School Band. As each group passes the War Memorial, they lower their instruments and signs and all eyes are left in respect. If you would like to see more about the Marist College Band, please visit my personal blog . Thanks for reading!

Beautiful Teen Girl Portrait- Funny Faces-Too Much Fun!

Image
After a few hours of shooting, set changes, outfit and hairstyle changes, we decided to blow off some steam. Just in the casual shirt she came in, Shelly sat for some fun natural shots. We were trying to get the fan going to blow back her hair but it was a mess and we just ended up laughing. The real fun started when Shelly began pulling some amazing expressions. It strikes me how beautiful she remained even when she contorted her face so!

Jumping Shoot

Image
I shot a similar idea for a school project and it was so popular that I have decided to offer the shoot as a Father's Day gift idea - for one day only - May 15th, just in time to get your prints back for the holiday. I am only taking 5 families so let me know as soon as possible. It will be a blast!

Beautiful Landscape Photography - East of Portland

Image
What a fabulous time with fellow photographer, Bruce MacGregor . A trip down Highway 97 was also a trip into the past and afforded us many photographic opportunities. We were both interested in buildings or scenery with character and we found a few indeed. In fact, we got so carried away, we missed lunch. (oh and the fact that all the towns were practically deserted and there weren't any restaurants contributed to this).   Looking into the church Inside the church  Old Gas Statio n Baby Deer visit after dinner!

Swimmer Portraits - Dramatic Lighting Shoot

Image
I had this shot in my head for weeks. Finally I had ten minutes to shoot it and I was extremely happy with the results. Firstly, I started out with my non-swimmer to test lighting and angles. I used two 1600 Alien Bees with strip modifiers. The subject was placed in exactly the right position to let enough light define both edges w little or no definition through the middle. Then when my real swimmer was around, I shot him. I am excited about marketing these images in my upcoming material. This is my test subject... Here is my real swimmer!

Family of Six Photographed in West Linn - Family Portrait

Image
What a fabulous family and wonderful children, each with their unique outstanding personality made for a fun afternoon of  shooting. This family have an avid appreciation of photography so I had to keep on my toes and come up with some different ideas as well as add in a few more traditional ones. Clearly at ease with each other, the family fell into poses very naturally. I suppose because we were in their home, this added to their comfort.

Don't Miss A Thing...
